Day Care

Goddard Riverside’s Day Care Center welcomes children ages 2 ½ to 6 into a stimulating and caring learning environment while their parents are working or attending job training. Founded in 1965, the Center is licensed by New York City’s Administration for Children’s Services to provide a full-day program for 76 children, including a state-certified kindergarten classroom.

The Day Care Center works with partners to provide the best experience for families. The Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services coordinates on-site Early Intervention Group Therapy for children with special needs. Specialists from Bank Street College provide technical assistance on working with parents and adapting curriculum. The National Council of Jewish Women sponsors the Center’s lending library.

A sliding-fee scale accommodates families with very low to middle incomes. Families represent diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and live or work in the surrounding community. Eighty percent are headed by single mothers. Eligible parents must be working, participating in a welfare-to-work program, or receiving disability entitlements.
