Riverside’s Head Start Center is an attractive, child-friendly
space providing comprehensive services for children ages 2 ½
to 5 and their families. Sponsored by the federal government, Head
Start is a national program designed to prepare children in low-income
families for school. Head Start provides medical, dental, mental health
and nutrition services and extensive support for parents.
Since 1967, our Head Start Center has offered a multi-cultural,
bilingual (Spanish/English) program that includes children with
disabilities. The Center can serve up to 80 families residing from
86th Street to 100th Street and from Central Park West to Riverside
Drive.
The Center partners with the American Museum of Natural History
in a hands-on weekly science program that promotes family use of
community resources. Other partners include: William F. Ryan Community
Health Center, NYU Dental Clinic, Cornell University, and Bank Street
College of Education.
