FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GODDARD RIVERSIDE COMMUNITY CENTER’S
21st ANNUAL NEW YORK BOOK FAIR

Goddard Riverside Community Center, one of New York City’s leading not-for-profit organizations, holds its 21st Annual New York Book Fair on Saturday, November 17, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 18, 2007 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 88th Street and Columbus Avenue in Manhattan. Each year, hundreds of people enjoy holiday shopping in the holiday spirit, knowing they are giving back, while saving 50% or more on a wide selection of over 25,000 new bestsellers, cookbooks, children’s books, art books and many other holiday gift items. More than 85 cents of every dollar raised at the fair will be donated to support Goddard Riverside Community Center and its programs that serve more than 16,000 youth, older adults and homeless individuals. Thanks to support from generous members of the publishing industry, the real estate community, local businesses and caring New Yorkers, the New York Book Fair has raised more than $6 million dollars since its inception in 1986.

The New York Book Fair kicks off with the Book Bash on Friday, November 16, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The festive evening offers an opportunity to preview and purchase the best books of the year before the fair opens to the public.

Goddard Riverside Community Center provides services to 16,000 people annually from Manhattan’s Upper West Side and Harlem communities. Twenty-two programs at 16 sites reach out to children and youth, families, homeless people and older adults. Goddard Riverside, a not-for-profit organization, provides basic services such as meals, shelter and education, and enriches community life with recreational, cultural and arts activities. The agency manages 600 units of affordable housing. In addition, advocacy and legal services offer individuals and groups a voice in their community and a way to address critical social issues.
