Goddard Riverside Community Center Celebrates Seniors
In Their 70s, 80s and 90s!
200 Goddard Riverside Senior Center members, whose
average age is 80, attend a birthday bash for their
fellow seniors. 20 seniors celebrating July birthdays
receive special gift bags, birthday cards and homemade
corsages. The birthday party festivities include a
lunch with a “Christmas in July” theme,
birthday cake and entertainment by singer/guitarist
Robert Grossman from Hospital Audiences.

Goddard Riverside Senior Center has a membership
of over 3,200 individuals, over 60 years of age, from
diverse racial, ethnic and religious backgrounds.
Seniors live primarily in nearby public housing or
low-income residences and are actively involved in
running the Senior Center, alongside Goddard Riverside
staff. Activities at the center include art, exercise,
choir, language classes, horticulture, health screenings,
trips to the country and local museums, legal assistance,
money management and assistance with understanding
Medicare. Goddard Riverside Community Center provides
services to 16,000 people annually from Manhattan’s
Upper West Side and Harlem communities. The agency
enriches community life with recreational, cultural
and arts activities. Twenty-two programs at 16 sites
reach out to children and youth, homeless people and
older adults.
