INVITATION
TO COVER
STAR LEARNING CENTER
TO RECEIVE CHECK FROM
JPMORGAN CHASE FOUNDATION
Jenny Low, Vice President of the JPMorgan Chase Foundation,
will make a ceremonial check presentation for $15,000
to the 52-year-old STAR Learning Center of St. Matthew’s
and St. Timothy’s Neighborhood Center, an affiliate
of Goddard Riverside Community Center.
The STAR Learning Center has been in our community
on the Upper West Side since 1956, providing tutoring
services to low-income youth between the ages of 6
and 18. Each year more than 300 students are matched,
based on the subject area in which tutoring is needed,
with one of 250 tutors who volunteer 18,000 hours
to help young people do better academically and receive
the individualized attention that will help them gain
greater confidence and self-esteem. The volunteers
range in age from 15 to over 80 and tutor a wide range
of subjects from second grade reading to Regents Chemistry.
Please join us as we accept this contribution for
the STAR Learning Center’s operating fund, critical
to keeping this program alive.
